Making Prom Accessible to All
Supporting our families to ensure students can access and enjoy their prom celebrations.
Attending your Year 11 or Year 13 prom is a once in a lifetime rite of passage for every student. An evening spent with teachers and friends where you can celebrate your achievements, friendships and memories whilst looking ahead to new adventures.
We want as many students as possible to be able to access these important events here at The Hinckley School and Sixth Form, by removing some of the potential barriers in place during our current economic challenges. With this in mind, we have created a number of ways that students can access support to ensure the event is accessible for all.
Please click on the drop down options below to read more about how students and their families can access support with everything from the cost of a ticket, to loaning a brand-new prom dress free of charge.
The Prom Hardship Fund
The Prom Hardship Fund
This fund has been established to help support students to attend and enjoy this annual event and relieve potential financial pressures. With countless donations from staff, parents, carers, local businesses and governors, our community has once again come together to support our students and we are extremely grateful.
How can families access the prom hardship fund?
If you are struggling to pay for your child’s PROM ticket, please contact your year team and we will do our best to support the buying of a PROM ticket for your child.
How can families donate to the prom hardship fund?
If you would like to donate to the PROM hardship fund, again please contact your year team.
Loan a Prom Dress or Suit For Free
Pre-Loved Prom Shop
In addition, our new ‘Pre Loved Prom Shop’ allows members of the local community to donate their old or new and unworn prom dresses, accessories and suits for our current and future students to use, should they need additional support.
How can families access the ‘Pre-loved Prom Shop’?
We have had some very generous donations of PROM dresses and suits made to the school, some of which have never been worn before. If your child would like to borrow one for the evening, they need to speak to their Year Team and we will arrange for them to view the outfits one day after school. We also have staff volunteers who can offer support in dress and suit alternations, should they be required.
How can families donate to the pre loved prom shop?
If you have a pre loved prom dress, bag, shoes, suit, tuxedo etc that you would like to donate, please bring the item to our Main Reception during our normal office hours. We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations.
Thank you to Liney's Brides in Hinckley for donating six brand-new dresses in various sizes to The Hinckley School for our students to borrow. The team have kindly offered to allow our students access to a range of affordably priced new dresses in store, starting from around £20-£20, if they wish to visit the store and purchase their own dress.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this support package. The generosity of our families, staff and local community is astounding, and we are humbled by the acts of kindness and selflessness that have contributed to this student support package.
We can't wait to celebrate with our students at their Proms later this year.
