Celebrating Success on GCSE Results Day
The Class of 2024 celebrated their results surrounded by friends, family and teachers.
GCSE Results Day 2024 once again saw students from The Hinckley School celebrating success across the board, with Year 11 student destinations including apprenticeships, pathways within the armed forces and sixth form study, with a high percentage of students applying to stay and continue their seven-year journey by studying at The Hinckley Sixth Form. Students secured the outcomes required to build their brighter futures and to follow their dreams of working in industries including Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering and International Law.
Teigan is just one of the many students celebrating, after being awarded 9 GCSEs - all at grades 9 and 8! This incredible achievement is a testament to her resilience and hard work and Teigan is now looking forward to following her dream of working in international law by studying Spanish, English Literature and Philosophy. Reflecting on her time at The Hinckley School, Teigan shared memories of the additional opportunities she has enjoyed as a community role model alongside her studies, "I have taken advantage of every volunteering opportunity available during my time here, I have read to Year 7 students and even taken part in litter picks. It has been fun being part of the school community. It has been a really good experience."
Another student who is chasing her dream of a career in law is Olivia, who was awarded an outstanding 7 GCSEs at grades 9 and 8. Now enrolled to study English Literature, History, Physics and Art at The Hinckley Sixth Form, Olivia shared how she has benefitted from the support of the Pastoral Team, especially during Year 11 and, alongside Teigan, is now already looking forward to the Year 11 Reunion Celebration where she will officially receive her exam certificates.
Fellow student Anastasia, who described her time at The Hinckley School as 'fantastic', shared how much she has enjoyed the past five years, "I felt supported throughout by everyone and it has been incredible. I couldn't have wished for a better secondary school experience." Anastasia achieved an impressive 8 GCSEs at grade 9-5 and was over come with emotion when opening her fantastic results surrounded by family, friends and teachers. Anastasia has now enrolled to continue her seven-year journey at The Hinckley Sixth Form as she follows her dream of becoming an author and teaching English Literature at secondary or university level, a passion she says has been further ignited by her own English teachers.
Two students excited to begin a new chapter in the field of engineering are Bismark and Aiden. Bismark has now achieved the grades he needed to start an apprenticeship at MTC, the Manufacturing and Training Centre. He shared how proud he is of his grades and how he now feels confident to start his new challenge. Meanwhile, classmate Aiden is also celebrating after securing the grades required to follow his dream of training to become an RAF Engineer. Having made lots of new friends at The Hinckley School, Aiden is now excited to see what his next challenge will bring.
Also looking ahead to new challenges are Vimbi and William, who both celebrated being awarded 9 GCSEs at grade 9-5, including English and Maths. William, a keen guitarist, is now off to college to study Music and dreams of being a professional musician in the future. After meeting some of his fellow band mates at The Hinckley School, he has fond memories of playing fundraising concerts during his time in Year 10. Meanwhile Vimbi, who admitted she found not knowing what was inside her results envelope quite scary, was relieved when she saw her achievements and shared how she now feels fully prepared and excited to be moving onto sixth form study.
Planning to continue to build their brighter futures at The Hinckley Sixth Form are students Bradley, who is looking forward to exploring new potential career areas, and Madison, who was awarded 5 GCSEs at grade 9-8. Bradley said, “I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and decided to stay for sixth form as I have really good relationships with teachers.” A reason Madison also shared as what fuelled her decision to study A Levels in familiar surroundings, “I really like the teachers and am looking forward to continuing to study some of my favourite subjects I enjoy. I have had a lot of teacher support, especially in Year 11.”
“We are so proud of our Year 11 students. To once again see our young people achieve the results they need to go on to fulfil their potential is wonderful and truly a privilege for us. We are delighted that so many of them have decided to continue their seven-year journey here with us and look forward to welcoming them back to The Hinckley Sixth Form next week. The hard work and determination of the Class of 2024 has resulted in exam results they should be very proud of. We have watched them all grow and flourish over the past five years and witnessed them mature into the incredible role models we see today. On behalf of everyone here at The Hinckley School I would like to wish them all the best for the future.”
