The Good Clothes Show

Year 10 Art, Craft and Design students explore sustainability within the fashion industry.

On Friday 20th September, our Year 10 Art, Craft and Design students travelled with Ms Vora to The Good Clothes Show in Birmingham. The theme of the show was to educate audiences on the reasons to make sustainable fashion choices and to provide opportunities to get involved in a range of activities that demonstrated sustainability.

Ms Vora shared, "Our students had an amazing day packed with a lot of excitement, they actively got involved in a range of practical workshop-based activities where they had the opportunity to make headbands and tote bags from unwanted clothing and remnant fabrics. Students watched sustainable catwalk shows, explored a vast range of exhibits across the show ranging from jewellery made from dried fruit, veg and bio resin and bicycle inner tubes to clothing made from recycled tights. Students swapped their own clothes with clothes donated by others and listened to a panel of fashion industry experts who apply sustainable manufacturing methods into the production of their products."

Our students had an extremely insightful day exploring many methods of making sustainable fashion choices and left the event with a reals sense of the importance and impact they can have as consumers and potential future creatives in this industry.
